Updates

Man, I need to get better at this keeping up to date thing. SORRY!

OK, I was looking at web sites trying to find places to renew or update my CPR. Everyone needs to know how to do CPR and keep your skills up to date. I talk a lot about being able to save someone that might have trouble in the pool or at the lake when out swimming but there are plenty of places that this knowledge might come in handy. Even just knowing the basics of CPR could help you to save a persons life some day. I don't know if I could assist a complete stranger or not but I have a feeling if someone fell over, having a heart attack in a store some where, I would want to do something, not just stand there and watch.

My main objective is to make everyone water safe. Keeping a close eye on the kids and each other when you are out for a day of fun at the beach or pool. Knowing the trouble signs and how to help someone who in literally "in over their head." CPR is part of that. Being able to assist someone until they can be attended to by a professional.

In searching the Internet I found the neatest thing! PocketCPR. It is a device you hold in your hand and it actually talks to you, coaches you, through the steps you need to take when someone needs help. At first, as I was reading, I thought "oh, this is going to be expensive." Well, it is, sort of, but...they now have an app that you can download for "free" to your android or iPhone. How neat is that? And it was originally thought of and I believe, developed by a company, from Australia, that makes fencing for swimming pools. They saw a need and went for it. I say, "way to go!" There is a disclaimer, telling you that you still need proper training, and I agree but this could save lives. Check out www.pocketcpr.com . Also, please call your local YM or YWCA or RED CROSS, get signed up for a CPR class.
